The United States of America (also referred to as the United States, the U.S., the USA, or America /əˈmɛrɪkə/) is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district. The country is situated mostly in central North America, where its forty-eight contiguous states and Washington, D.C., the capital district, lie between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. The state of Alaska is in the northwest of the continent, with Canada to the east and Russia to the west across the Bering Strait. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific.

Since there are now as many OPCs as there are States, the theme for OPC 50 is "US States".

Make a hilarious one-panel comic with one or more of the following themes:

1) A state bird/flower/theme song, and how it was selected

2) A neighboring country/province/territory becoming the 51st US State

3) An existing US State has its statehood revoked

4) Pretty much any topical joke about a US State.

Bonus points will be granted if the comic is factually accurate.
