In Australia (and also, I think, the UK) to "waffle" means to talk at length about fuck all. It also applies to writing (a student might fill a one thousand word essay with waffle), and can be either a verb (The chairman waffled for half an hour and put the board to sleep) or as a noun (His intolerable waffle put me to sleep).
