Matrix Revolutions is the movie equivalent of a po-faced university lecturer trying to explain incredibly dull concepts, unaware that his trousers are sitting around his ankles.

The cross-dressing Wachowski and his brother are clearly convinced they are making some kind of high art and have clinically removed anything from the film that might be construed as fun or entertaining. Also, the main characters are hardly in it, instead we get to spend most of our time with characters such as Commander Gruff, Sergeant Shouty and The Amazing Roland.

Bah. I mean, the first film was quite good, the second was a bit shit but had a good car chase, but this final one is almost completely unwatchable.

Anyone else seen it yet?

I liked it better than Reloaded and thought I got $6 worth of movie but it did leave me with a number of questions that left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. (I won't go into those since they might spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it.) Among some other problems, the relationship between Neo and Trinity is as sexy as balancing a checkbook (I yawned at a certain ostensibly emotionally charged scene between them that I won't spoil for others by describing), Morpheus does squat the whole movie and looks like he's laying low because he's got a bad case of the runs or something, and I LOATHE the scene near the end where nerdboy jumps around like a little girl and nobody smacks him. Yes, it also seemed odd to concentrate so much of the major action of the film around Captain Sourpuss and Sgt. HOOOAAAAHHHH! I was entertained, though.

Reloaded wasn't the greatest film, but it managed to keep me entertained and excited enough to wonder how things would end.

Revolutions rewarded my enthusiasm with a kick in the nuts.

Revolutions was the biggest pile of visual diarrhea Ive yet seen grace the silver screen. Id rather be dragged naked by my testicles through a swimming pool filled with broken glass than sit through that shite again.
The Matrix was a good film, with an interesting concept, heck even Keanu couldn't screw that one up. Reloaded was a bloated canabilistic pile of sci-fi drivel, Revolutions is one sequel too far. The film is shit. I wouldnt even advise downloading it, it truely is that bad. The only highlight I have from watching this film is walking behind a girl who'd caught her skirt in her underwear on the way out of the cinema after the movie, so it wasnt the complete wasted night it may otherwise have been.

As some may have known, i live in a dorm at university, and a lot of my newfound friends are big "matrix" buffs. They've seen the first one, reloaded, and the animatrix, all with big happy grins and ooh's and ahh's coming out the ying yang. their response to the third matrix movie? biggest waste of money and the biggest load of elephant dung that could have ever been made.
i'm sure glad i didnt waste 10 bucks to go see that.

Sweet Jesus, am I the only one who actually enjoyed the movie?
I thought it was well done with a couple of not-so-shiny parts. It introduced more depth than the second one had, gave the characters far more direction, and strayed away from the ideas that made the first one so great. Straying away from the safe path, to me, is far better than sticking to it and becoming boring.

Sure, the movie wasn't as visually entertaining as the first and second movies, but it was a good balance of story, action, suspense, sci-fi, philosophy, and many other elements. Sure, it wasn't as much of a mindfuck as the first one, but what would be a bigger mindfuck than that anyway?

In any case, I enjoyed it, and will probably watch it many more times, and far more often than Reloaded.

I was one of the few people who sung the praises of Reloaded. I did so because I thought it was a build-up to something profound, I believed it was leading us somewhere that other movies in cinematic history had yet to do. Yes, it had big questions left unanswered, and yes, it probably confused some people and left others thinking "why did I waste my money on that?" - but I enjoyed it and was left seeking more.

Then I saw Revolutions.

Suddenly I realised I had been duped - I had bought into the story of Reloaded, I had accepted the philosophical babble as the beginning of something even more mind-blowing than the first instalment in the trilogy, only to be treated to a healthy slice of movie cheese. The scene where Neo fights Smith is good, I'll give them that. As for the rest of it? I couldn't believe a movie could disappoint me that much.

Hands up, guys and girls, I was wrong to think Reloaded was a build-up to something impressive. It wasn't. Revolutions ended leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth and a real sense of let down. I had high hopes, and those hopes were dashed. "Matrix" was good, "Reloaded" was different - Revolutions spoilt the whole thing.

All of the questions Reloaded asked were glossed over, all of the many possibilities that could have been built upon were ignored; Revolutions was a complete sell-out to soulless Hollywood money grabbing, and it could have been so much more, so much better. I shall pretend Revolutions never happened - what happenes after Reloaded is something I'll make up for myself, because the intended sequel is just too awful to accept.

I said I thought it was worth the matinee price and that I was entertained, so I suppose you could put me on the "enjoyed it" side of the ledger.

I'm not really sure why people loathe it as strongly as they do other than the fact that it didn't meet their expectations. If you just watch this movie and appreciate it just as a sci-fi adventure, it stands up there among the best ever made. I think a lot of people were expecting some sort of mindblowing religious experience out of the sequels and I don't think that's fair. People often point out "The Empire Strikes Back" as the ultimate case of a kickass sequel but those people tend to take for granted that the Star Wars series sets its sights story-wise very low--it's basically 'Zelda defeats the bad guys and saves the princess.' The Matrix series tried to aim higher--to deliver something meaningful along with kickass action. They didn't quite hit every mark but they did come kind of close, which is fairly impressive to me. "Revolutions" is not a great movie, but I don't think it deserves the wrath it has received.

I agree with TheBlairZip. The Matrix was ment as an "Eye Candy" movie. It was only ment to have you saying, "Wow! That was freaking cool!". Ya'll seem to have taken it as a movie that was supposed to change the world, and then when it fell below par(in your openion) you became angry. I also agree that it tried to reach higher than it was ment to have. At the end, it seemed like it tried to tell a bible story in the future. I dont see why critics take it as more than a movie, and when a film like The Matrix comes along they bash it. Thats all they are and all their ever going to be. Movies. So dont take them so damned serously.

Who do you think was the target audience for those movies? Black leather, PVC and latex, guns, goth clubs, gothy music, very techno oriented atmosphere. It's a very dark series of movies, well, up until the end of the third one... But I'll leave it at that. Many have probably not yet seen it.

I agree, it's not some awesome masterpiece, but it's still a damn good movie. That's all it's meant to be. Sure, it's a little deep sometimes, but for the most part, it's a pretty basic storyline. Not something that you should base a cult on.

Now, Lord of the Rings, that's a cult-basing movie!

I have been ignoring this thread because I wanted to watch Revolutions first, which I have just done.

I must say, that I was entertained. I still stand by my opinion that they should have just left it as a one-off film and that pre-Neo Matrix films would probably be more awesome, but all in all I liked Reloaded and Revolutions.

It didn't answer all the questions, it left some stuff for you to just work out and despite there being a sunrise at the end it was still a kind of dark conclusion, I mean life is still shit for the humans and stuff.

I would love to rhyme off the stuff I liked and the stuff I didn't, but I'm not sure this is a thread for spoilers, so I wont.

But my final verdict was that I enjoyed both sequels, not nearly as much as many other movies but I've seen stuff that's a million times worse.

At least Vin Diesel wasn't anywhere near these films.
