I think I had a six-digit, but I never used it. That was back in the days of hyper-sensitive idle dropouts, so I just left ICQ sitting there pinging its server and making my ISP think I was doing something. Then one day I found out it was actually useful, but by then I had downloaded a dedicated ping program, and I had to get a new ICQ UIN. It is eight digits, but low eight digits: 10419916

Yeah. It's a pain in the ass, though. There's this form you have to fill out and mail in, and it takes like 4 to 6 weeks to get a response. And that's if they can track it down.

I used to have an ICQ number, but when I "upgraded" to this new computer I decided that installing ICQ with Windoze ME is asking for trouble. ME has enough trouble with AIM.

Dontcha hate ot when a married/living-together couple you know uses one ICQ/AIM/whatever ID for both of them? Worse than that, my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew all used one for a while, too. Damn that was confusing, not least of which because all three were three-toed sloths on the keyboard, so I would say, "Who's this, by the way?" and get a garbled mistyped mess in reply about twenty minutes later...
