What British "intelligence" thought, eh? Well, since the war we've discovered that they told the Prime Minister that "intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles programmes is sporadic and patchy" and that "we have little intelligence on Iraq's chemical and biological weapons doctrine and know little about Iraq's chemical and biological weapons work since late 1998".

So that's what the British spooks thought about the Iraqi menace.

A month after being told this, Blair wrote in his dossier on Iraq's weapons that "the assessed intelligence has established beyond doubt that Saddam has continued to produce chemical and biological weapons". The government also plagiarised a PhD thesis about Iraq's weapons (in, er, the 1980s) off Google and stuck it in the dossier.

Maybe the French and Russians came up with something, though, I dunno.
