In some areas you may only be able to get PBS on very basic cable if the broadcast signal doesn't reach the area, so I thought maybe you were saying my parents couldn't afford 7 dollars a month. And they couldn't. And it was very sad.

Why do you believe reducing the tax burden means you are taking money that belongs to the poor away from the poor? You are just taxing people who actually have an income less, under the assumption that investment and spending dollars will cause more economic growth. How is giving a benefit to those in higher tax brackets an attack on the poor? What money do you want to give them that they aren't already getting through welfare, food, and public housing programs? How would you implement these new programs? How would you measure and track their success?

Because when the deficit reaches mammoth proportions (like it is now), what's the first thing the government does? They cut back on programs that help people who need it. Not to mention programs that affect everyone...like health care, education, environmental, etc. The rich don't have to worry about education, they can send their kids to private school. They don't have to worry about health care coverage (or lack thereof) or the cost, they're rich enough to afford it. How do you think CEOs line their pockets? Tax breaks and kickbacks.
