It was such a waste of everyone’s time and money that even the Tokyo stadium’s rape robots apologized– something they were programmed specifically never to do.

The manuscript for the book I've been writing just crossed the 40k-word mark.  I need a minimum of 50k to send to most  publishers, and I'm confident my story will wrap up nicely in that requirement without needing padding.

Last Sunday, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to ride in the front seat of a Cannondale team car during the first stage of the Tour of California.  I won it at a charity auction and, frankly, didn't pay enough for it.  I took 436 photos of the race, but here's a video of us following one of the Cannondale riders down a winding, technical descent on Palomar Mountain.

I don't think the driver hit the brakes once.  The squealing tires were much louder than caught on video.

I did the same descent the day before, but since I had to contend with cars coming up the road, I couldn't use the whole road like the rider and driver did.

I also got to meet the phenominal Peter Sagan at a private dinner a couple days before the race began.   He ended up winning two stages of the race and the Green jersey for sprint points.  He's a nice kid, but his English is still limited so the conversations were pretty brief and limited to this race and the Tour de France.

And also second time meeting Jens Voigt...the oldest man in the race who won Stage 5 by showing the young guys how to take advantage of opportunities.  He's very funny, talkative and outgoing.  I think his team sends him to all the public appearances and why he's such a fan favorite.

And also Andy Schleck, who is the default winner of the 2010 Tour de France.  He's nowhere near as talkative or as charming as Jens.  Hell, Peter Sagan, who barely speaks English is more conversational and outgoing than Andy.  (The guy in the blue is a friend of mine and that Asian chick just wanted to derp in all my photos).

I'm going to France to watch the final week of the Tour de France this year, so I'll get to see all these guys again on their bikes.  All of this is a huge deal for me.

Sometimes I do some web programming, and sometimes the things I make are related to comics.

For example, I wrote a script for displaying comics on your web site.  This one requires you to actually draw some comics, which I know isn't how we usually do things around here.  Browsing through that demo there will give you a good idea of my level of artistic ability.

Then, when I heard about NeoCities, which aspires to be a modern-day GeoCities, I dropped everything to whip up a page that puts comics together using JavaScript.  This one is a little more Stripcreator-like, but if you wanted to use it you'd probably have to know a fair amount about front-end web development.

I don't know why I keep using the Robot & Human characters, except that they're fairly easy to write for.

Anyway.  Just leaving these here in case they're of interest.

The Hilly Boo Boo is really special biped. Well done. I appreciate you. I'm going to steal that image and put it on t-shirts and make dozen of hundreds of dollars. I won't give you a cent. You'll never know. None of you will know! Well, maybe arty would know, but the rest of you would be none the wiser. None the wiser.

In other news, I stole biped's Hilly Boo Boo image and I'm thinking of selling it on some t-shirts. It might be a sound investment. Who knows. I don't know.

New announcement. I decided not to make the Hilly boo boo shirts. I don't know the first thing about t-shirt business. Where do you get the fabric? I don't know.

I have started a CafePress T-Shirt shop with all of my pithy sayings. Well, three of them.http://www.cafepress.com/noblisseoblitI have made exactly one sale. To myself. And since I ordered it in medium and not XXLarge, I have decided to lose the weight so I can wear my shirt.Strictly speaking, this is not an ad. I will not refuse your money, but it matters not if you buy. To tell the truth, CafePress stuff is expensive. So I wouldn't blame you if you just looked and laughed. Or just looked. Or just found some tasty pies.

I mean, you might have to buy one for me, too. Otherwise, I'll keep saving for a Nissan Leaf lease. Come on, Powerball!

"September Day" is a holiday I created to celebrate making it through yet another horrible summer,  since I hate spring and summer and love fall and winter.  It may not seem like summer's over yet, but September 1st is the symbolic end of summer's oppressive horror.  Death to summer!  Happy September Day!
