Nonsense! IRC is exactly like Shakespeare. You've got men pretending to be women, women pretending to be men, idiots bumbling around misunderstanding every third word you speak to them, bull-headed males refusing to back down from trivial quarrels whose origins nobody can remember, people claiming they're in love with you from the first second they see you, and lots of inscrutable drama. The Bard would be proud.

But keep the sig quote anyway. It's pretty funny.

I've seen the quote with "usenet" instead of "IRC" and it was attributed to someone named Blair Houghton. I have no idea who Blair Houghton is, however. It's one of the quotes in my .sig randomizer for email and usenet.
