It was boorite for me. He and I both posted our first comics way back in March of 2001 when we worked at the same place (we've both moved on since then).

After the initial novelty, there came the heady days of the comic contests--it seemed there was a new one every day. I even won one and was absurdly proud of it.

Of course, boorite went on to be a legend on SC, whereas I, well, didn't.

My first comic was equal to its title:

I came here after a friend of mine posted a couple comics he had made here at another site I visit. He's long gone from here, but I stuck around, mostly because... sniff... I have nowhere else to go, maaaaan. ;)

And sadly, I deleted my first comic a year or so ago when I was in a particularly foul mood. It was one of those early "Squirrel and Cowboy" crapfests, so we're probably not missing much.

Hey I was surprised as the next guy. I wished I was there too, Kajun. At the time, I just knew I wouldn't have the time or $$$, but in hindsight, I should have went without the sleep and just charged it and came to St Louis.

And Dexx, I was pretty charged up when cool folks started putting me on their favorites. I would keep a close eye seeing how many favorites I was on. It sounds corny but I was very flattered. I should also mention that jes_l and umfum and choad and MikeyG made me feel like I was part of something really cool. In the grand scheme, I guess we're all second or third wave guys, but I felt like we were the new guys who were actually making cool comics. I'm forgetting people, but you get the idea.

Reading through this thread, I was thinking it was only for vets. Then I realized that I was around close to six months before the illustrious mandingo(who seems older due to his well-earned adored status).

I was googling for some kind of "comic strip creator" WAAAAAY back in the hazy days of January, 2005, when I miraculously stumbled across this gem of a webhole.
My first impression was, "Wow, there are a lot of users here for something so "niche"." Then, the harsh ripping of noobs in the forums frightened me into the lurking stage, where I remained for some two days or something.

I made a comic, after much fretting over its quality.

I was driving at concepts I never fully understood, and it shows. Ah, youth.

My reception at first was lukewarm. I feel I have not yet earned my keep or the respect of many of the veterans, despite high-points of social acceptance (such as positive comments from the likes of possums, DragonXero, JESUSSANDWICH) and winning a Photoshop Valley contest.

Could this be due to off-putting wafts of self-importance such as the likes of this very post?

A friend of mine had some comics on here, kangol22, and he's long since been ...uh, not here. haha. I was here for a few months before I really did anything though. Then I messaged (and I think sucked up to) kajun, jes, and fuzzyman. The rest is simply history.

I made a Captain Underpants webcomic when I was home sick during high school. I googled around looking for other sites that would let me make comics and eventually wound up here. Shortly after arriving I began asking how I could be #1, which led to me not sucking dick and lots of other catch phrases.

I don't post or make comics nearly as much as I used to because I just don't have time like I used too. However, I will always have a place in my heart for stripcreator and everyone who posts here. Even the people I hate.

Well... Some time long ago I saw an ad for the then-new "MSN" that featured a quick shot of some sort of "comic-chat".

I've been making my own comics since adolescence (got mixed up in the small-press community for a while, actually started to get noticed, but dropped out of the whole thing during a depression that lasted for a few years).

Years later I was on a site called "rotten.com", you may have heard of it, which linked to something called "jerkcity" (no idea what that is). Anyways, I instantly noticed the characters on there looked just like the ones from that ad way back when. It in turn linked to this oddity of a site called stripcreator (check it out if you have some time!). I figured THIS was that comic-chat device from MSN I'd longed to use from my teenage years. Come to find out it wasn't that (sorta... it is often used as an elaborate chatroom in unskilled hands), but something much better. It was a heavy synchronistic moment for me.

Around mid-May 2001 I was asked to look up various community building web entertainment notions for inclusion in products for the company I was working for at the time. I found LowPass and tried 2 comics. I don't know if that creator name still exists. Then I decided to try on this Spankling character and made this:

I used to hang out at Snopes' forums and zenboy posted a link there to here (known as Lowpass at the time, which explains some of my early references and why inside jokes do not age well). I didn't get inspired to make a comic until a couple weeks later, after I saw this one...

Well a year after I moved to Wyoming, I met this girl who would later become my Crazy Ex-Neighbor. She introduced me to this guy whose girlfriend said I should read AtheistDiary's comics. I got hooked reading his stuff, made an account, and now look at where I am.

My first comic. I tried to be all satirical. Later I attempted funny.

Having just found out about the wonderful world of web comics (in a gaming magazine, which had a penny arcade strip in it) i got hooked on reading Penny Arcade and PVP. Naturally i wanted to make my own comics, so i searched around on the net, and i found this wonderful website.

This was my first comic!

I think I read a link for stripcreator from Penny Arcade/PVP as well. Straight away I knew I was destined to be part of this rag-tag fugitive fleet of so-called "strippers". Soon after I developed a taste for wormwood based spirits, and the rest is history.

Another thing I came up with and others ran with. I have no problem with it.

I got here by doing a Google search for something like "make your own comics." This was the first strip that I received from the Plutonian thought broadcasts.
