The people who do it well, and do it when it's deserved, are the people who earn my respect and the respect of others. I bet you'd be surprised to know this, but people have earned my respect by flaming me. They did it well, and they flamed about relevant things. It was humbling, but I give credit where it's due. Of course, the appropriate response after having been flamed legitimately is to concede the argument, and then call the flamer a pigfucker or some such. Even the flamee can earn respect points by saying the right thing in response. Just like you have no knack for artful, relevant flaming, you have no knack for taking a flame well.
