I thought it would be cool to have a thread where people post websites of local bands they know or bands that are good but not well known.

the aforementioned unamed band is my band. we are awesome. we're kind of grunge-ish, i guess, even though we play at all the hip "punk rawk shows". our best songs are Organ Grinder, Pulling out my Stitches, and Bungee Bob. we're working on a small, independantly released album called Frog with the Golden Leg. buy it!

It's grime time.

The Disco Biscuits (preferrably a live album) are an up-and-coming "jam" band (though "jam" doesn't mean much anymore) that is influencing the way electronic music and rock are merging in a concert setting. I'd also recommend Keller Williams, a great 10-string guitarist that plays with loop machines and can just play a mean, percussive, fast, kottke-esque guitar while singing pretty country/bluegrass-ish melodies with some good hooks.

And of course: Medeski, Martin, and Wood. They're pretty famous in the jazz world, but I think they appeal to anyone who likes a good groove.

They're on Rock Action records...I downloaded the album...the only mp3 you can get of thiers from thier site is Iron Pond...

anyway, they're like a garage rock band like Hot Snakes.

You probably haven't heard of the grand majority of these bands, and most of 'em are pretty damn good (see especially Groovy Little Numbers, Bob, Dentists, Razorcuts, and Talulah Gosh). Unfortunate thing is: Most of 'em broke up at least 10 years ago.

Also good are Accrington Stanley (not the footy club) and most of the bands on Matinee Records (especially The Pines, Harper Lee, and Sportique).

I love hunting down incredibly obscure bands in that constant search for that incredible rush a great pop song can bring.

I'm including some tracks from some of the local Omaha bands on my swap CD.

A lot of bands that are making it big are coming out of Omaha NE. It would be kind of cool if one of the relatively unknown bands I see from time to time in the bar I go to after work were on MTV one day.
