I'm sure a lot of people have, but has anyone heard the song "Maps" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? It rocks! I knew they would get famous eventually!(due to People magazine) I also like that new Britney Spears song, I don't know why, and I feel like a loser, but "Toxic" is so catchy.
Other good singles:
"Sunday"-Low-Pro
"Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades"-Brand New
"Join Me in Death"-H.I.M.
"Megalomaniac"-Incubus
"I Miss You"-Blink 182
"Born Too Slow"-Crystal Method

other stuff that's just good in general:
"El Schorcho"-Weezer
"Lip Gloss and Black"-Atreyu
"Stop Crying Your Heart Out"-Oasis
"Danger High Voltage"-Electric Six
But now its your turn, gentle forum readers. What songs do YOU like to listen to over and over again?

Crystal Method is usually pretty damn good, and I like Megalomaniac, by Incubus. I like it mostly because there's really no mistaking who and what the song is about.

Everything else mentioned is crap, except perhaps for the Weezer song, because I haven't heard it yet.

There is no shame in liking "Toxic", although "Slave 4 U" is still the best thing she has ever done.

I'm also constantly listening to the new N*E*R*D record, and "Monkey Love" by Goldie Lookin' Chain, who are a 17 piece Welsh hip-hop collective.

Good lord that picture is wrong on so many levels.
And while Dimmu is possibly the most musically advanced band in the black metal genre, it's certainly not "true norwegian black metal" anymore. At least, that's what Varg would say if he behaved himself enough to get out of prison. Stupid Varg.

Frankly, I think the whole album is awesome. Though, other than the two Hellboy Trailer tracks, the album isn't very "accessable" (AKA easy to get into from a commercial perspective).

Your choice of bands to list count among the most sparkling clean, near-breakout extreme metal bands around. Cradle of Filth has more than proven it's commercial viability, while still being musically brilliant. Truly, the Dimmu songs with a lot of orchestra (and yes, it's a real orchestra) playing at the beginning are my favorites, but I like the whole thing.

I wanted to hear about all different kinds of songs and music, so if anybody has any different bands or songs that would be neat to talk about. joshw has the right idea, the only one of those bands I've heard of is Arab Strap and Mogwai, just you know list songs that haven't been heard of, or if they HAVE been introduced to mainstream music they just haven't gotten the attention they deserved, you can post that here too. I think Renee Heartfelt doesn't get the attention they deserve.

i suppose this would be the appropriate thread to encourage everyone to listen to one of my songs. be warned, though: it's hosted by geocities, so maybe only one or two of you will be able to listen today (:

as for what was going on upthread, weezer's "El Scorcho" is indeed one of my favorite songs, and everyone here is encouraged to listen to the entirety of the album, Pinkerton, from which it was spawned. it's loosely based on the story of M. Butterfly, and is somewhat widely considered to be the world's first real emo album. meanwhile, it's also one of my two favorite albums ever (the other being Grace, by jeff buckley).

favorite new songs? no idea, really. the radio is not my friend. "megalomaniac" is a pretty cool song, but not as good as anything on their last album. the white stripes are consistently pretty good. largely, though, i've been getting into way indie-rock, by way of brad sucks. if you haven't yet, go download the Outside the Inbox compilation, which has a handful of really good tracks on it. So that's who the sons-of-bitches are who ruined that song. The Cure original is my wife's favorite song of all time, and she was almost in tears yesterday as that travesty of a remake came on the radio.

Commercial bands should stay the fuck away from the classics. And that goes for anybody even THINKING of covering a Joy Division song. That crappy Orgy version of "Blue Monday" was blasphemous enough, we don't need to sully poor dead Ian Curtis any more...

I stand by my statement that Hoobastank sounds like a friend of mine saying 'Who's butt stinks?'

Plus their music sounds like cranky ass smells.

If you like Progenies... you will like "Allehelgens Død I Helveds Rike". Its from the same album.

That song is old to me. Have you heard Better to Reign in Hell or Serpent Tounge? Plus, I still like their older stuff better.

I've been into Lamb of God and Emperor lately as well.
