When I think of emo, I think of Sunny Day Real Estate and Jets To Brazil and bands like that, that fall under the punk umbrella because no one knows what else to call it. The songs are more intricate, yet hard edged, and the singer actually has a decent voice and sings about normal people's problems instead of why the government is out to get them. I think the old folks had a name for that kind of music. They called it Rock and/or Roll.
