I just came back from seeing Serenity. That movie kicked at least 74 kinds of ass. I want to have Joss Whedon's children. Why O why did they cancel Firefly?

I refuse to talk about the substance of the film because discussing almost any part could lead to spoilage. Suffice it to say that if you liked Firefly, you'll love Serenity. Hell, if you've never seen Firefly, you'll love Serenity and you'll buy Firefly on DVD on the way home from the theater.

There was also a trailer for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. OMFG on that, too. I double-plus came.

I refuse to see it based on my opinion of their radio commercials alone. That and I don't like joss whedon. Although his work on Astonishing X-Men is fantastic. Except for the 2nd arc was more than a lil corny.

Being a Firefly geek is like only one notch above being a Trekkie...

Now, The History of Violence. Thats a badass movie.

I saw History of Violence last night. That movie s-s-s-sucked. I enjoyed the violence portions but the history and of portions were double-suck bad. I've enjoyed Cronenberg's stuff in the past but this was no good. Rent that movie if you need to see it.

Firefly was alright... kind of a Han Solo vibe about it, except that Jayne is only just passable as a wookie sidekick. And that nutty bitch gets on my nerves. But I'll definitely rent the flick.

As a weird aside, I met that dude who plays the captain a few months ago. he was watching improv at the theatre and he looked vaguely familiar and my friend introduced us and I gave him a handshake and said "nice to meet you" and then went to go get a beer. About 4 minutes later, I looked at my wife and said "Wait..that was the guy from Firefly." He and the mechanic girl were in town for a comic con. And that's my brush with fame.

I saw Serenity tonight, and I was not disappointed.

Heck in some ways I thought it was better than the series. It was a wicked little sci-fi flick, sadly I think given the material it was never going to be a great one; we're never going to know if Firefly was destined to be a classic sci-fi series. Personally I think the concept only had limited mileage, but sure, who cares? The film was a self-contained work of legenditivity.

Without giving too much away, there were characters I knew, and some I thought I should have recognised had I watched all 13 episodes. It didn't matter, the film was pretty damn tight in that respect, you could feel connections with characters from Firefly without knowing too much about their history from the series. Would have liked to see more of ****** and **** , but there you go.

Hot damn, that was good. Even if you hate Joss Whedon, you have to respect that this was one quality little flick. Go see it.
