I prefer my quad-core high performance gaming PC with dual in-line graphics cards and dedicated physics processor.

Sometimes just for laughs I use an insignificant fraction of my system resources in order to run an XBox 360 emulator. You know -- just to see what kind of gaming experience the peons are forced to endure. Then I laugh and go back to playing the kinds of games that console gamers can only dream about.

That's a lot of dough to invest in gaming.

A console, 4 controllers, a handfull of games to play on your sofa with friends, pizza, beer and snacks for everyone, every weekend for a year would still cost less.

That sounds like a better entertainment value to me.

Actually, I agree. I was just trying to troll Injokester a bit. About the greatest game I can afford to play is Rock-Paper-Scissors. I do hope a good gaming rig falls off the back of a truck for me by the time Crysis comes out though.

Getting back to the original topic, I owned both the X-Box and the PS2 before I was forced to sell them for food. They were both worthy systems -- I'd say I got about equal play value from both. But you can't eat Project Gotham Racing.

As for the games that console people are forced to deal with, there are a lot of fun games that will never appear on a PC. One game I actually considered buying an X-Box for was Mercenaries. That was a fun game.

I'll play Smash Brothers and Wrestling games and some Grand Theft Auto but if we're discussing the best systems then Atari 2600(or 7800) is the best.

same here. there's a store across town that sells a good collection of games for 5 bucks each. i need to find Sea Quest

i think NES will always hold a special place in my heart. games like super mario brothers and punchout and zelda were such a huge step up from Atari. it was a beautiful time to be a kid
