I didn't make the cut because I refused to play the Husband. According to the director it was because alll the other actors looked too much older than me for the consistency to be right, but I know that's bullshit because the last play I was in also had my younger brother in it, cast as somebody 30 years his senior. And we're both at the same level of ability.
It wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't obvious that she wanted to cast my wife as Susie and me as her husband, but I wrote on my audition form that I refused to play that because I've been cast in that kind of role every single time my wife and I have auditioned for the same play.
That and she made a big to-do about how evil Mr. Roat was but then only had one guy actually read the scene with him and Susie alone in the apartment. As in, the only scene where you get to see exactly how evil he is.
