Okay, so far I have:

Midwest in the lead, with Oregon a close second due to write ins. Vegas is third, one point behind Oregon.

No one seems to want an agenda. My question is, how are we going to meet up if we don't at least plan a dinner/breakfast/informal get to know you type event?

Bec and I will be in the US September-October of 2006. This will include a stay at Burning Man in Nevada (September) and at the HP Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon (October). As such, Sept-Oct and west coast US sound good to me.

As SCers tend to be really cool people (and I have probably met more of them than any of you, so I am qualified to claim this) I'd like to see as much of them as possible, so I would rather have some kind of loose agenda so we don't fuck up and miss each other.

Burning Man is, I think, first week of September. The HPL film fest is in the middle of October, usually. That basically leaves most of September and the beginning and end of October for me, roughly speaking.

Okay, so I've tallied the votes, and given some time to people to get their last minute votes in.

The majority seems to want summer in the midwest. If you count all Kajunchoobygeniu$'s votes, it's tied with Las Vegas. Vegas isn't an option for me, so if more people want to go to Vegas, great, but count me out. It's not somewhere I feel comfortable taking my son, much less do I feel comfortable leaving my son with someone else while I go on vacation.

So revote, Vegas, St. Louis, or Chicago? Write ins welcome, but again going majority vote.

Majority vote is that there is no agenda. So I won't make one. I'll have my own list of interesting places nearby as well as prices and resturant guides if anyone would like to see the list.

If St. Louis, I could quite possibly make it. Driving across a couple states is feasible, but anywhere farther will require flight and I won't be able to afford that.

I can find the best flight prices if we go to St. Louis or Chicago, end of July/beginning of August (but usually the prices stay remotely the same throughout summer).

I'd love to actually be there for this one, and I've never been to St. Louis or Chicago (or Vegas for that matter, but I don't really have a desire to go to Vegas).

Oregon didn't have enough votes to make it. Technically, Vegas shouldn't even be on this ballot, but I am no match for kajun + all his alter egos. I'd like to do Oregon, but there really wasn't a lot of interest in going to the middle of nowhere. I think maybe it's because you let it slip that you planned to kill everyone.
