Here we will discus movies that are profound to you in any way or had a profound effect on you.

I will start us out

Magnolia:

This movie almost brought me to tears and then to confusion.
The stories in this movie are so fantastic. But I was confused a little about the frogs.

IMDB.com Trivia for "The Punisher" (1989)

91 people are killed individually on screen in this movie, not including those who die en masse in explosions, etc.

Was originally banned in South Africa and then released straight to video two years after it's release.

Dolph Lundgren did most of his own stunts.

All of the fight sequences were improvised by the actors to give the fights a sense of realism.

Michael Paré was the first choice for the lead role.

The Punisher never uses the same weapon twice. He will also leave them behind for no reason.

Dolph Lundgren co-wrote the Punishers monolgues at the beginning and end.

The Sweet Hereafter is a beautiful and perfect movie. I loved how it was totally shafted at the oscars to make way for Titanic, which blew in comparison and also blew not in comparison.

I really liked "October Sky". If we're gonna talk sports, you can't go wrong with "Rudy" and now one of my favorites is "Friday Night Lights" only because I reltated it so much to my life.

My favoritest movie ever is Blazing Saddles

Sure is. Adam Egoyan's a pretty unique artist. Especially in the medium of film.

Some profound movies are Once Upon a Time in America, Crimes and Misdemeanors, and others. I'm suprised I'm so short on examples right now, but there you go.

After watching The Pianist, I suddenly felt bad for complaining that I didn't make enough money to keep the bills at bay.

I also suddenly felt really good about my life. It confused me. So I watched a bad Cinemax horrorporn movie and felt annoyed.

Seriously, I liked The Pianist.

House of Sand and Fog was really amazing and terribly sad.

Amelie was also a good one that made me feel really good after watching it, but I couldn't put my finger on the reason specifically. I have since become an Audrey Tautou junkie.

A Night To Remember. The 1958 original.

Personally, I think every "Best Actress" award from 1958 to now should be given to this one actress who played a minor character. In one split second, she managed to convey an amazing range of emotion, realizing she would never see her husband again, he's going to die on the Titanic, the children will never see their father again, the unsinkable ship is sinking, etc. And she did it all without changing anything physical on her face. I've watched that scene over and over, in slow motion, with pause on, etc and I can't figure out what she did different from the second before and after.

And that movie made me cry. Not that it's hard these days, since I can get teary-eyed at a cat food commercial (which drives me up the wall).

I also agree that Amelie was a fabulous movie.

I only wish that I spoke/could understand French so I could get the full effect of the movie.
