The other day, i was driving behind a Saab 9-5 Aero. The license plate said, "SAAB V6."
Why the hell did this person feel the need to pay an extra $60 a year for a vanity plate (or whatever it is, I've never checked) to tell the world she was driving the car anyone could tell she was driving? Maybe she thought, "most people don't know the 2007 9-5 Aero is a V6--I'd better make sure people know that." Or perhaps she was so miffed at Saab eliminating the V6 option on the 2008 model that she had to ensure people didn't think she was driving the 4-cyl 260 hp engine, but then again, if you were really into Saab's you'd know that.
But certainly anyone can tell it's a Saab. I mean, it says it on the back on the medalion above the license plate. So why say "SAAB" on the plate?
My old boss bought a blue BMW and wanted to get a plate that said "BLUEBMW." Thanks, you've done a great service to the color blind. Turns out, some other yahoo beat him to it. So he got one that recognized the fact that it was a convertable.

Anyway, vanity plates are dumb. Paying extra to put the name of your car on your license plate is even dumber.
