I've been sick for the past four days. I watched the entire Daytona 500 yesterday. Not really being a nascar fan, I must admit...I liked it.

I was in a bar for a couple hours yesterday and there was a race on the tv. I had no idea it was the Indy 500. To think, all the while I thought I was ignoring just some race, when in fact I was doing everything in my power to not look at the broadcast of the most important Nascar event!

I can understand that - meds make anything better. Were there any spectacular crashes? By the time I left the bar, I was drunk enough that I forgot there was even a tv in there.

i'm not really into NASCAR. all the goddamn advertisement on the cars is annoying. but i did watch Speed Tribe a couple years back and that gave me a healthy respect for Le Mans. 24 hours straight of racing. pretty crazy

As a resident of Indianapolis, you are required to know a few things about racing. After a collective two years of Indy living, I can tell you for sure that you were not watching the Indy 500, you were watching the Daytona 500.

There are a couple differences that maybe you overlooked. The Daytona 500 is the first race of NASCAR. It also takes place in a state called Florida, which is located in the southeastern corner of the country. The Indy 500 takes place in a state called Indiana, which, if it wasn't for the invention of racing, wouldn't even exist.

I was gonna send a robot back in time, but I got high.

I went to the USG Sheetrock 400 a couple years ago in Joliet, IL. (Dad got free tickets and I had nothing better to do) Seeing it in person actually made it somewhat enjoyable.

I've seen plenty of live races. The enjoyable part is when I get the nachos and giant fountain drink. Don't buy into bigfrank's propaganda, he was obviously well supplied with snacks.

Same with baseball. The enjoyable part is the nachos and ice cream.

Beer and direct sunlight don't mix well for me. I prefer to save my drinking for the air conditioned (and cheaper) bar & grill after the game/race.
