Methinks I'm going to let Kramer make the 1st move, lest I screw the pooch on this one.  (My way of saying that I don't quite get the premis of how to link these topics together.)  However, if time limits force me to pull the trigger, be aware that I can't be held accountable for the level of ridiculousness of my entry. My thought: I would condense it down to a combination of "make fun of patriotism, soldiers, the military" and "have your characters present at an award ceremony." Something along those lines. Regardless of how closely you follow the guidelines, funny is funny. So as long as you keep things loosely in the area of the above mentioned stuff, you should be fine.
